Slip & Fall

Slip and Fall

Often called “slip and fall”, these are cases that fall under premises liability. Slip & fall cases have an extra requirement in that the individual who controls the area, usually the owner or manager, either knew or should have known about the hazard and did not take steps to remove the impediment.

It is essential to your case that you understand what caused you to fall; for example, was there a foreign substance on the floor? Or, did you trip over your shoelaces? Was there an object impeding your path? For the best chance at pressing a claim, you must know everything you can about what the hazard is; anything that indicates how long the hazard has been there is important to your case as well. Photographs are great if you can get them, and there is often video to further document your fall.

Be sure to get medical attention as soon as the injury takes place and consult with an attorney as soon as you can.
